Q. Is my Card subject to fees?
A. If you need to replace a lost or stolen Promotional Card, you may be charged a card replacement fee of $10.00/card. There are no other Bank fees associated with the Promotional Card.

Q. How can I obtain a replacement card when my Card expires?
A Your Promotional Card and any funds remaining on the Card expire at the end of the month displayed on the front of your card, and cannot be reissued or replaced after that date.

Q Is my Promotional Card the same as a credit card?
A. No, unlike a credit card, there is no line of credit associated with the Promotional Card. You can only spend up to the amount loaded on the Card.

Q. Is my Promotional Card like a debit card?
A. Like a debit card, you can spend only the amount of funds loaded on the Card. However, unlike a debit card, you cannot use the Promotional Card to withdraw funds at an ATM and there is no bank account associated with the Card.

Q. How do I activate my Card? Do I need to register as the owner?
A. You can activate the Card by logging into and following the online prompts. If you do not have Internet access, you may activate the Card by calling 1-866-300-0319 and following the activation instructions. For either method, you will be asked to enter information on the Promotional Card. It is strongly recommended that you register as the card recipient; otherwise, you may not be able to establish that you are the owner of the Card if it is lost or stolen. Additionally, registering as the card recipient will assist in determining FDIC deposit insurance coverage for the Card balance.

Q. Where can I use my Promotional Card?
A. You have been provided this American Ethanol Promotional Card to encourage your purchase and use of ethanol fuel. You may use your Card to obtain goods or services generally wherever the Card is honored. Generally, merchant terminals displaying the Visa, Plus, or SHAZAM network logos honor the Card. You will be prompted to request a personal identification number (PIN) for the Card, however, ATM and other cash withdrawals, and preauthorized payments are not permitted. You agree not to use your Card for illegal gambling or other illegal purposes. Display of a Visa card logo by a merchant does not necessarily mean the transaction is lawful in the jurisdiction in which you may be located.

Q. Can I use my Promotional Card at a gas station?
A. You are encouraged to use your card for the purchase of ethanol fuel. Depending upon the merchant you may be required to pay inside as Pay-at-the-pump transactions may be declined.

Q. Are there any transactions that are restricted on my Promotional Card?
A. Visa and Bank rules and regulations restrict the use of your card from the following types of transactions:

  • Cash advance
  • Purchase of cash value products, such as a money order or cashier’s check
  • Exchange of foreign currency
  • Automated teller machine (ATM) withdrawal
  • Wire transfer
  • Online gambling
  • Hotel and car rentals

Visa may change its rules at any time. Compliance with Visa rules is required.

Q. Can I use my Promotional Card to make a purchase that is larger than the balance on my card?
A. If you wish to use your Card for a purchase that is greater than the balance of the funds available on your Card, you must tell the merchant to charge only the exact amount of funds available on the Card to the Card, and then you must arrange to pay the difference using another payment method. The merchant may require payment of the difference in cash rather than accepting another card, such as a credit or debit card. Some merchants may not accept these “split transactions.” If you fail to inform the merchant prior to completing the transaction, your Card is likely to be declined.

Q. Can I establish a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for my Promotional Card?
A. You will be required to select a PIN for the Card at activation, but it is not required for use of the Card. To use the Card without a PIN, simply select “credit” at merchant terminals and sign the signature panel.

Q. How can I track my spending or check the available balance on my Promotional Card?
A. You can view your transaction history and available balance by logging into and going to the Card Information page or by calling the number on the back of your Card (1-866-300-0319).

Q. What do I do if I have a question about or problem with my Promotional Card?
A. A Customer Service Representative is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling the number on the back of your card (1-866-300-0319).

Q. Will I be charged fees for using my Promotional Card at participating merchants?
A. Bankers Trust will not assess transaction fees; however, the merchant or network used may charge fees at their discretion.

Q. May I let someone else use my Promotional Card?
A. If you authorize someone else to use your Card, any transactions completed by the individual will be treated as authorized transactions. For your protection, it is best not to share the Card with others.

Q. Can my Promotional Card be replaced if it is lost or stolen?
A. Contact us AT ONCE if you believe your Card has been lost or stolen. You should call toll free 1-866-300-0319. Telephoning is the best way of keeping your possible losses down. The Card may be replaced with a Bankers Trust Gift Card with certain restrictions: You must provide the Card number and you must have registered as the recipient. A card replacement fee of $10.00/card will be assessed.
